Theresa is a nursing professional with a passion for patient advocacy and mental health healthcare. She currently works part-time as a night nurse for the ICU and as a full-time assistant professor at New Mexico State University - Alamogordo. In her spare time, she teaches childbirth classes, serves on the behavioral health local cabinet, and trains police officers in crisis intervention when working with populations exhibiting signs of mental illness.
Theresa values education. Her own educational achievements include:
- Associate Degree in Nursing, from New Mexico State University - Alamogordo in 1992.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern New Mexico University in 2010.
- Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Administration from Capella University in 2016.
- Philosophy Doctorate in Nursing Education from Capella University - in progress. She completed her comprehensive exams in July 2019. She is currently in her research portion of her PhD program.
Theresa's educational philosophy follows Kolb's Experiential Learning Cycle with emphasis on critical thinking and active learning. Her favorite nursing theories are Benner's Novice to Expert and Roy's Adaptation Model.
Theresa hopes that Twin Hearts Nursing Solutions will grow to be a vital resource for nursing and allied health education. It is her hope that this website serves as an inspiration for current and potential healthcare professionals; while, providing vital resources to anyone who accesses the site.
